The 1985 Mexico earthquake was an earthquake occurred at 7:17:47 local time, on Thursday September 19, 1985, which reached a magnitude of 8.1. The epicenter was located in the Mexican Pacific, near the mouth of the Balsas River on the coast of Michoacan, and 15 miles below the earth's crust.
